An Unforgettable Chapter in Indian Art:
Kshitindranath Majumder

Anindya Kanti Biswas

Abdur Rahaman Chughtai is the greatest artist till now in Pakistan. Young Kshitindranath again returned to Allahabad town after completion of art education in Govt. Art School. The highest post of Fine Arts in Allahabad University was held by him. He literally followed through his works the elemental words of Rabindranath Tagore in defining art, “Art is the response of man’s creative soul to the call of the real”.

Kshitindranath’s works may be looked upon as peers to those of Abdur Rahaman Chughtai, Abanindranath’s another disciple yet, Kshitindranath Majumdar had his individuality. To speak the truth much of the credit should go to Abanindranath. His method of instruction was such that, though the ideal was the same, every artist would follow his own way. His works mingled with the ancient trends of Indian civilization and culture.
