FLUID EMOTION: DISTILLED ECSTASY

DEVESHI GOSWAMI CAPTURES THE JUXTAPOSE OF FREE-FLOWING EMOTIONS AND THE FEELING OF ECSTASY THAT EMANATES FROM IT.

Presented by Sanchit Art, the show will be held at Shridharani Gallery from 1st to 9th October.

Her art resonates with the playful abundance of a carefully regimented palette. Paper, mostly white and unprimed, plays the role of a fertile soil in which her loaded brush rolls freely. What eventually emerges, under her critically observant soul, is a reflection of an intriguing unity unmistakably calm, fluid yet orderly, hidden within.

Sanchit Arts presents FLUID EMOTIONS: DISTILLED ECSTASY, young artist Deveshi Goswami solo show. Flagging off with a preview on 1st October, the show can be viewed at leisure by art lovers at Shridharani Art Gallery till 9th October, 2022. After which it moves to Sanchit Art Gallery at DLF South Square Mall

Born to the arts, in a home filled with canvases of all sizes and shapes, Deveshi’s expresses the introspective atmosphere of deep spirituality she grew up with in her family home. Armed with a pair of eyes full of spiritual inquisitiveness she finds various shapes emerging out of her painted paper almost like a child finding various recognizable forms in such fleeting clouds. Her forms then get etched out using deliberately thoughtful lines, firm yet hesitant, resulting in a unified canvas that is abstract when completed but originates with an organic unity. Hence, the juxtapose of fluid emotions and a restrained and distilled ecstasy that emerges from it.

DEVESHI GOSWAMI

Shares the artist,“My work pushes you to find meaning in the irregular shapes and lines that appear in front of you. None of these shapes or forms has one meaning to it. They’re like clouds. Always metamorphosing”.

Curated by Arun Ghose, the show presents the artist’s recent works that are an interplay of fluid forms with definitive lines. Soothing palettes and pleasing layers mark the show.

A Bachelor of Fine Arts from Lasalle College of the Arts, Singapore, Deveshi’s works have been exhibited both locally in New Delhi as well as in international locations including Singapore and Hong Kong.

Goswami’s art, a form of self-expression above all, is motivated by her own life experiences. All her conscious decisions made in a particular moment become the driving factors for the expression translated onto the canvas.

The layers in her work are expressed in her choice of media in the most unusual abstract shapes and unrecognisable forms covered in the utmost vibrancy. She picks up the chaos from the now and transcends it artistically composing a semblance of balance and harmony. Joyous with a dynamic riot of colours where her fluid lines – a reflection of her Now- dance on the canvas.
