Spirit from bondage to freedom: An Interview with Sonali Chaudhari – Yeindrila Das

Sonali Chaudhari is a Visual Artist based in New Delhi, India, having studied Fine Art at the prestigious College of Art in Delhi, till 1999. Sonali loves to experiment with texture and colour. Her artworks depict the strength and beauty of the human spirit. As a woman, she believes in overcoming all obstacles and triumphing over all adversity in the journey of life. Her works highlight the transformation of the human spirit from bondage to freedom, from darkness to light and from the depths of despair to the pinnacle of pure bliss!

Sonali Chaudhari has exhibited her paintings at many reputed art galleries in India and other parts of the world. Additionally, her works are in the collections of numerous organisations and private collections. In this interview, let’s understand more about her and her artistic journey. 

Yeindrila Das: Tell us about your artwork – where do you take inspiration from? Is there any particular theme you work with? Which is your favourite medium to work on? Sonali Chaudhari: As an artist, I take inspiration from nature and from the strength of the human spirit. I love working with human forms, trees, and doorways which represent new chapters in our lives and with lots of texture. I work with Acrylics most of the time and use a lot of impasto in my work. The layers of paint applied on top of the other are like various layers of our existence.
